In 1946, Kaohsiung Municipal Hospital was established. The hospital renamed Kaohsiung Municipal Ta-Tung Hospital in 1979 and became a branch of Kaohsiung Municipal United Hospital on January 1, 2003.

In order to implement a reconstruction project, Kaohsiung City Government decided to let private sector run the hospital to improve efficiency.
On January 12, 2009, Kaohsiung City Council held an interim meeting to pass the ROT project of Ta-Tung Branch United Hospital. The Department of Health conducted public bidding within the following months; on July 8, the Kaohsiung Medical University Chung-Ho Memorial Hospital was qualified as the best applicant and has the right of management for 15 years.
The post reconstruction hospital expected to have 23 medical specialties and 479 licensed beds in 3 years. The goal is to become a regional teaching hospital which provides reliable and quality service.

Our service region includes Cianjin, Hsingsin, and Yenche District where the percentage of elderly in the population is high and growing. To meet residents’ needs, we promote integrated long-life medical services and carry out the elderly care policy of “growing old at home”.
To provide better care, we joint multi-specialty effort to develop feature programs, such as prevention of high blood sugar, high blood pressure and high cholesterol, chronic diseases treatment and cancer treatment. Also, we equip state-of-art technology and set up a trauma team, a stroke team and an AMI team to enhance emergency care.

To fulfill the goal of building healthy community, we dedicate to become a member of WHO Health Promoting Hospital Network, and to deliver active prevention interventions to our employees, patients and community residents.

Understanding that the safety of healthcare services is of great interest to whole society, we received hospital accreditation from TJCHA in August 2010, and hope to acquire “Excellent” in hospital accreditation and “Qualified” in teaching hospital accreditation. Pursing excellence is our commitment. We will make continuous improvement efforts in our service, research and education, engaged in providing “3 An 5 Xin” healthcare services to the public.

“3 An” refers to Safety, Ease, and Well-being
“5 Xin” refers to Patient, Diligent, Compassion, Enthusiastic, and Sincere
